Basic Vocal Health and Technique (2 classes) 

 

We'll discuss basic vocal technique and care for the voice. Learn how to strengthen your voice and increase your range as well as develop your own personal style. Learn how to improve your tone and relieve tension in your voice. We’ll discuss stage presence, communication, – all part of what we do as we sing and lead in worship.  Timing, picking the right song in the right key, enunciation, breathing – all this and more are covered in these interactive classes that are fun yet very informative.

 

Microphones and Monitors for Vocalists


Where should I stand in relation to the microphone and the monitor? How far should I hold it from my mouth? Why does it feedback? Why can’t I hear myself? If you’ve asked yourself these questions then this class is for you. It will present solutions in a very non-threatening, non-technical yet informative way so that you will be able to maximize your effectiveness as a vocalist on the platform regarding these issues.

Worship Team Vocals I & II

 

Fine tune your worship team vocals. Learn how to take your vocals to the next level by sharpening listening skills and intonation. In addition we'll cover  mic technique for group singing, getting the best harmony & blend for your group, improvisational techniques, arranging your team, finding the best keys, how to work productively with your tech team,  how to gracefully submit to leadership and much more!

Harmony and Improv

 

Learning how to sing harmony is within your reach. Learn how to teach others harmony as well. We’ll teach basic harmony structures and how to grow your own ability to find the ‘perfect’ harmony for you and for your group. In addition we’ll discuss how to create and use improvisation techniques effectively.

Vocal Practicum I & II

 

During this time you will offered the opportunity to sing either as a soloist or with your group. This will be an opportunity to get a personalized assessment as well as some tips to take home and work on!  This will be handled like a group voice lesson and you will hear from the instructor as well as your peers.  A great opportunity to grow and get feedback!

Vocals for Musicians

 

Vocalists, who play instruments as well, have some specific issues that we will address. We’ll go over basic vocal technique and ways to properly care for you voice.  We will also go over some ways you can improve your singing without adversely affecting your playing!

Putting it All Together

 

This will be the final opportunity to put everything into practice that we’ve been learning for the last few days. We will start with a warm-up for your team and work through a song together. We will work on blending together and using the microphones properly. We will try different monitoring systems as well as record our session. A great to try it all out before you go home and try it with your group!
